Dear pensioner colleagues,
The days ahead seem to be stiff and tough. If we closely watch the
present day approach of the bureaucrats in the helm of authority towards
the genuine demands of the retirees from Public Sector Units, despite
being guaranteed under articles 14, 16, 21, etc. and even after having
known the clear-cut judgments of Judiciary from base level to the
topmost towards the pointed issues, future may pose hard days to achieve
a minimum comfortable living life as we are entitled.
Pensioner-brethren at RBI, Public Sector Banks and GIC are also
facing the same state of turmoils. The recommendations of the respective
Boards, however reasonable they are, seldom attract due response from
the top brass of the ministries concerned. It is unfortunate that the
verdicts of the Judiciary too have to undergo such treatments at the
hands of upholders of our Constitution. The legislation passed towards a
guaranteed honest life of senior and senior-most citizens is only in
paper and it is also learnt that there is a committee too look after and
further to the interests of the elders. What for ? and we are yet to
know.
For each and
every thing, pensioners are forced to move courts. If a single
individual wins in a case after spending a lot from his pension fund for
years together, the Management takes a tough stand of extending the
benefit of the verdict to similar cases. We are at a loss to know
whether there is any check in the expenditure incurred towards such
unnecessary decisions and wasteful attempts.
Friends, time has come for us to contemplate upon a unified
organizational action against such onslaughts upon innocent pensioners
of Public Sector Undertakings. As long as we are not united, the
Management takes liberty to deny all our legitimate demands. Are we
going to allow such situations for all the time to come ? No friends;
let us, at least by now, take a decision to fight for our common cause
unitedly.
With greetings !
M.P.Subrahmanian, RIEA, Madurai.
