On Friday, bank pensioners came together for a demonstration, seeking redressal of their grievances. Organised by the Coordination Committee of Bank Pensioners' and Retirees Organisation, the demonstration was held at Broadway. Their charter of demands includes pension revision and increase in family pension and neutralisation of dearness allowance. At a press briefing on Friday, committee convenor K. Chandrasekaran said pension was generally linked to the last drawn pay of the pensioners and those who retired after wage revision got a higher pension. "We are asking only for those demands agreed to in the pension settlement of 1993. Pension revision was suspended by banks since 1987," he said. The members also demand that the family pension be increased from 15 per cent of the last drawn salary to 30 per cent. Retired State government employees had their grievances to share too. S.M. Chellaswamy, treasurer of National Alliance of Senior Citizens Association of India, said the government order (no.363) on provision of increased dearness pay along with pension revision had not been implemented for those who retired between 1988 and 1995   Regards, E.R.Iyer
