I beg to draw your kind attention to an issue that is discussed by the pensioners for a fairly long time. This month, we had our pension credited to bank accounts on 2nd April'19. Large number of pensioners will receive their April pension on 2nd May. It means pension can not be paid earlier than the first working day of a month even if the first working day falls beyond 5th orvany other later date of a month. The worst will happen in 2022 when pensioners of Bengal and some other eastern states will receive their September'2022 pension on 7th October'2022.
How long this suffering of pensioners will continue ?
Can the payment of pension be made on the first day of the month irrespective of working or non-working day ? Yes, this is very much possible when the same LIC can pay annuities or pension payments under different pension plans of LIC to its policy-holders on the 1st day of every month positively irrespective of working or non-working day.. Pension payment on the first day of the month does not require breaking or even bending of rules and/or Pension regulation 1995.
Because of holidays on account of Durga Puja and Gandhiji's birthday, the poor pensioners in Bengal and other eastern states had their pension credited to their bank accounts on 3rd October'2017. The issue was taken up by the Federation of Retired LIC Class-I Officers' Associations, well before Durga Puja with the CO.The the CO authorities sat on the issue making the pensioners enjoy Durga Puja in empty pockets.
Federation of Retired LIC Class-I Officers' Associations leadership met the EDP and Additional EDP again on 13th November'18 and drew their attention to the issue. The EDP and Additional EDP had assured of their efforts of setting the things right.
The General Secretary of theFederation of Retired LIC Class-I Officers' Associations has written to our new Chairman on 4th April'19 on the issue together with some other very important issues. .
I sincerely believe where there is a will, there is a way and the new leadership of LIC will definitely demonstrate their will..
