My dear friends,
Please permit me to introduce myself. I am Vijay Singh Sikarwar, a retired LICIan. I am a member of AIRIEF a representative body of the LIC Pensioners. Our organisation, besides other activities which such an organization like ours is expected take up for its members, is also engaged in legal battle for pension updation of LIC pensioners. Our principal rather only opponent is GOI.

Another thing which I want to bring to your kind attention is that, howsoever high and adequate the pension amount may be perceived by a person on date of retirement the ever increasing inflation erodes its value. And after two three wage revisions inadequacy of the amount of pension starts hurting the one who is denied of compensation by not updation of the pension. Increasing longevity clubbed with advancement in medical science has increased life span. Glaring discrimination can easily be illustrated by one example. An ED retired before 1992, gets a pension of approximately Rs. 27000/- while the another one who retired after 2012 is getting approximately Rs. 83000/-. Another example is an Assistant retired after 2012 is getting pension of Rs. 28000/- (these are just illustrations without any malice towards anyone).
All the pensioners in their life time will face inadequacy of pension amount which is fixed at the time of retirement.
The purpose of this message is to give you a glimpse of what awaits you. If you think you can do something for us, you are right. Pressurise the Government of India through the Corporation management to abandon its obstinacy being shown towards the LIC Pensioners and give us what legitimately, legally and morally should be given. The Government has recently given it to the Pensioners of RBI. Support of in service employees /officers to the pensioners' cause was a major contributory factor in the matter of RBI pensioners. Ladies and gentlemen, remember if all of you unitedly can not force the LIC Management, who else can!!

I shall not bother you with the details of our legal battle. I will try to give you reasons which necessitated the legal battle. In the decade of 90s, the necessity of pension updation was felt. The Vth Pay Commission appointed to consider wage revision of Central Government employees effective from January, 1996 have also recommended updation of the Pension and accordingly government pensioners started getting benefits of pension updation with wage revision which is still continued. Since there was no provision of pension updation in CCS pension rules, the government had granted the benefit of pension revision by issuing an Office Memorandum.
LIC pension rules were framed by the GOI taking CCS pension rules as model, LIC pensioners were denied benefit of pension updation as provisions of pension updation are not stipulated therein.
I shall not bother you with the details of our legal battle. I will try to give you reasons which necessitated the legal battle. In the decade of 90s, the necessity of pension updation was felt. Since the entity which framed both the rules was same, LIC management also proposed to give the benefit of the pension updation to its pensioners, and the Board has passed a Resolution to this effect. The Board resolution was sent to the GOI for approval, but failed to get mandatory assent. It will not be out of place to mention here that the Government has not conveyed its decision on the Board resolution. Only during the Court proceedings the GOI stated that resolution was NOT approved by them. It never conveyed the decision of rejection.
" King can do no wrong" as the saying goes they believe in it.
This discrimination against we, the LIC Pensioners, has forced us to seek judicial intervention. The battle is on for almost two decades. It is in the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. Old to very old senior citizens are fighting against the mighty Government. Our resources are deflating, but not determination. We will keep fighting till the end. We hope that we shall win.

The battle in the court room is being fought against the Government with its infinite resources and the mighty Corporation as its front. The government is relentless in defending its unjustified act. It is well aware of the injustice it is doing with LIC Pensioners by denying their rightful due. And in this process it has created a class within the class. Amongst the LIC Pensioners it has separated Chairmen and MDs retired after 1-1-1996 from other pensioners. These select few will be entitled for pension updation, while other officers of the Corporation upto the cadre of ED will NOT. And friends most of you will not go beyond the cadre of ED.
