INDIA OUR MOTHERLAND 77th ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE

DEAR ALL,         INDIA OUR MOTHERLAND 77th ANNIVERSARY  OF INDEPENDENCE

        1) "Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance.....................And to India, our much-loved motherland, the ancient, the eternal and the ever-new, we pay our reverent homage and we bind ourselves afresh to her service."---Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Independence Day of India is celebrated on 15th August to commemorate its independence from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation in 1947. The day is a national holiday all over the country. Flag-hosting ceremonies are conducted at the State capitals and by the local administration at district headquarters. The main event takes place in New Delhi where the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. In his speech, he speaks about the achievements of the Government during the past  year, raises important issues and charter for further development. The Prime Minister also pays tribute to the fighters who sacrificed their lives and fought to free our motherland from the clutches of the oppressors-the British.

2)There were many creative interpretations of the meaning of the colours in the flag,

from renunciation, sacrifice represented by SAFFRON

to closeness to nature represented by the   GREEN  colour,

and peace and non violence by the WHITE colour- but all members were agreed that the flag was not communal.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in his interpretation put it this way: "

This Flag tells us 'Be ever alert, be ever on the move, go forward, work for a free, flexible compassionate, decent, democratic society in which Christians, Sikhs, Moslems, Hindus, Buddhists will all find a safe shelter.'"

The third aspect in the discussion was of social justice and freedom from oppression and hunger. In describing the flag as a symbol of freedomNehru said, "There will be no complete freedom as long as there is starvation, hunger, lack of clothing, lack of necessaries of life and lack of opportunity of growth for every single human being, man, woman and child in the country" and this was echoed in the speeches of many others.

 R.B.KISHORE  : INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY;77th YEAR

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anniversaries are times for introspection,
>             draw the balance-sheet of the nation,
>   Years roll by unnoticed, happy & unhappy events
>             Cloud & crowd our minds, mixed feelings permeate
>  Our country ,great in culture & civilisation, being emasculated
>             By insane communal elements, spreading  frenzy & hatred
>  Cannot one distinguish elixir & poison, good versus bad people,

>             Executive  ceases to take executive decisions,Legislature abdicates,
>   Judiciary pronounces verdict,appreciated by law-abiding citizens,
>             Lawless forces escape wrath & fury inspite of alert media

>
Delays formidable,obstacles galore , nexus of administration & law-enforcers
>             Makes a mockery of democracy, pulse of people pounded & stampeded
> Cry in anguish, helpless & hapless, voice in wilderness ?
>             But echoes reverberate ,call for reforms or revolution
> Richest country being steadily eroded in myriad forms by negative forces ,

>             Political  echeleons corrupt & inefficient, running beserk

> Feeding & perpetuating  cauldron of violence & terrorism

>             Rocking the economic boat by public loot of assets

> Killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, religion & humanism,

>             Science  & spiritualism,tolerance,sweat & toil be the pillars

Reinvent,Restructure, Reengineer & Reposition our Motherland,

>             Let the aroma of new garland ignite, arouse & create a New India .
