Re: Today's Court proceedings
As you know, our case was scheduled to be heard today in the Court No 3 as the 'First Regular Matter'after 20 Misc matters.
The hearing in the Misc matters got over by 11.50 am and our matter was called. Shri Nidhesh Gupta, our Sr Counsel, Mrs Meenakshi Arora, for Hyderabad Association, AG for UoI and Shri Ranjith Kumar for LIC had been present in the Court. As Shri Nidhesh Gupta stood up for submission, the Bench expressed its inability to hear the case today and said that it would be heard in the third week of January 2026. It is not known as to why our matter could not be heard today because neither petitioners'nor the Respondents' Senior Counsels prayed for an adjournment.
It is now noticed from the SC website that the matter has been posted for 4th Feb 2026. This is really an unfortunate development for all of us,who had pinned hopes on today's proceedings. We have no other alternative than to wish that from 4th February 2026 continuous hearing takes place. However, let us wish that the case comes up for hearing in the third week of January 2026 as was announced by the Bench .

There are a lot of hard problems in the world, but only one of them gets to call itself ‘the hard problem’. And that is the problem of consciousness – how a kilogram or so of nerve cells conjures up the seamless kaleidoscope of sensations, thoughts, memories and emotions that occupy every waking moment. The present situation is only a continuation of survival itself being hard for 2 lakh years when Homo-sapiens appeared on earth and fittest alone survived as per Darwin's evolutionary theory. Then productivity started to improve 10000 years ago due to Agricultural revolution with snails speed. During Industrial revolution of last 250 years standard of living of most deprived was improving slowly. Only AI and Robots may speedup the decent living of deprived beings shortly. Number of reasons for the present stalemate of pension upgradation and how to solve them were written in this column were not even read by 85% retirees leave alone to question their mentors who are mainly responsible for all the ills from 1.9.56 till this day by believing a failed revolutionary theory which guarantee "Sacrifice" only and not welfare to deprived. Then why bother about adjournment by two member bench when GOI/ LIC will appeal to higher number bench if Upgradation is granted. So lakhs and lakhs crores of windfall profits from LIC will be utilised to write off loans of rich wilful defaulters and not for legitimate rights of deadwood retirees who themselves are not prepared to fight even for restoration of snatched rights for 44 years and shouted only for pseudo-socialism.
