Staff federation in SBI was arrogant enough not to join AIBEA which was the only TU organised against private bankers under worst conditions like Hire and Fire with low wages, as employees of Imperial Bank were getting slightly enhanced wages with pension like Oriental Life private Insurer which continued in SBI from 1955 when nationalised. Bank staff manipulated their kin and relatives register at Employment exchanges and included in the lists sent by them and gave temporary appointments as clerks and eventually regularised them unlike in other banks and LIC which also had also did in few cases. All were promoted as officers unlike in LIC. One can challenge this by telling how many were recruited by competitive test on merit compared to above method when educated unemployment was worst in all these 78+years. They were proud that GOI will treat them elite without any demonstration and fight. That proud was thrown in the dustbin when GOI refused upgradation of pension from 1997 onwards. SBI staff federation could have joined RBI union and AIBEA and agitate passively and united for "pension is undisbursed wage of low during earlier service" during 6 wage settlements. GOI would have yielded retirees to safeguard the prevailing economy even at the time of lakhs and lakhs crores of rupees were written off in favour our of wilful defaulters. KARMA can laugh at even elites like DFS a defender of one percent rich will not talk even with 10/ 20% top ignoring overall improvement of the nation. Even SC Judiciary is not prepared to reverse the course.
