Sub: Updation (revision) of pension of LIC pensioners and allied matters.
With respect to above we seek your kind audience to apprise you about the following long pending issues of LIC pensioners:
- ➢The delegation of insurance sector unions of BMS met you under the leadership of Shri. Surendran ji and Shri. Girish Chandra Arya ji on 10-10-2024. NOIP was represented by Shri. Ashok Joshi, our Ex General Secretary, who had a detailed discussion with your good self, regarding pension updation and other allied matters. We felt assured then, by your empathetic response.
- ➢As a follow up action, ten days thereafter, Shri. Girish Chandra Arya ji, Secretary & Financial Sector In charge, BMS, met the then Finance Secretary Shri. M. Nagaraju and the latter confirmed that the dept is in action mode regarding the issues discussed with your good self.
- ➢We may reiterate that for the last 38 years the pension of LIC pensioners has not been revised and as a consequence, an Executive Director retired prior to 8/1997 draws lesser pension than the Class IV employee retiring after 2022 wage revision.
- ➢About 20,000 LIC pensioners have since died till date without seeing the updated pension during their retired life time.
- ➢RBI/NABARD/SIDBI pensioners have already got their pension updated till the latest wage revision of in-service employees.
- ➢Thanks to your government for adding the pension updation in the CCS Pension (Rules), 2021, thus bringing this aspect under the Statutes.
- ➢Section 56 of LIC Employees’ Pension (Rules), 1995 expressly refers to CCS Pension (rules) 2021 for reference in respect of those matters not finding place in the LIC Employees’ Pension (Rules), 1995.
- ➢Pension updation and allied matters such as- one more pension option to left over employees Viz directly recruited engineers, ex-servicemen and resigned employees, additional pension to 80+ seniors, computing pension at 50% of last pay drawn, 50% of last pay as family pension up to 67 years of age in respect of deceased pensioners/employees, full pension for service of 20 years and above etc. are pending approval by DFS.
- ➢Modi govt has accepted in principle the National Litigation Policy and Modi ji himself has averred that the govt should not become a compulsive litigant. We, NOIP (BMS) are not a party in court litigation
- ➢On 21-04-2026, in Kolkata, our President Shri. Prabir Kumar Mazumder attended the meeting convened by you and submitted a detailed memorandum to the top official of your ministry, who vouched that these pending issues would be personally looked into by your erudite self.
Hence, we once again request you to accord your kind approval to the pension updation up to 2022 wage revision, without any further delay, for which act of kindness, pensioners would remain ever grateful to you.
