പാലക്കാട് ബിഇഎം സ്കൂളിൽ ടി.എൻ.ശേഷനും ഇ ശ്രീധരനും സഹപാഠികളാണ്.
T.N.Sesha and E.Sridharan were classmates in Palakkt B E M school. ( B E M is the abbreviation for 'Basel Evangelical Mission'; the name of the school is BEM High School, more popularly referred to as Mission School! - P. Ramanathan).
ബിഇഎമ്മിൽ ശ്രീധരനെത്തും വരെ ക്ലാസിൽ ഒന്നാമൻ ശേഷനായിരുന്നു. പിന്നെ ശ്രീധരനായി.
It was Seshan wo was first in class until Sridharan arrived in BEM. After that it was Sridharan.
ശേഷൻ ഇക്കാര്യത്തിൽ അൽപം വാശിക്കാരനായിരുന്നു.
Seshan was palpably competitive about this.
പത്താം ക്ലാസ് പരീക്ഷയിൽ ശ്രീധരനോട് ശേഷൻ ഒറ്റമാർക്കിന്റെ അകലം കൊണ്ടു വാശിതീർത്തു. 600ൽ 452 മാർക്കുമായി ശേഷൻ മുന്നിൽ. 451 മാർക്കുമായി ശ്രീധരൻ തൊട്ടുപിന്നിൽ.

Seshan got the better of Sridharan in the * 10th class examination by a difference of just one mark. Seshan was first with 452 marks out of 600, Sridharan was immediately behind with 451 marks.

‘ മെലിഞ്ഞ പയ്യനായിരുന്നു ശേഷൻ. നല്ല നിശ്ചയദാർഢ്യമുള്ളവൻ. പാലക്കാട് വിക്ടോറിയയിൽ ഫസ്റ്റ് ഗ്രൂപ്പുകാരായിരുന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ വിക്ടോറിയയിൽ നിന്ന് 1949ൽ ഇന്റർമീഡിയറ്റ് പാസായി എൻജിനിയറിങ്ങിനു നേരിട്ടു തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട രണ്ടുപേരും ഞങ്ങൾ തന്നെ’. ഇ.ശ്രീധരൻ ഓർമയുടെ പാളങ്ങളിലേറി പാലക്കാട്ടെത്തി. ശേഷൻ എൻജിനിയറിങ്ങിനു ചേർന്നില്ല. ഐഎഎസ് കോച്ചിങ്ങിനു ചെന്നൈയിൽ പോയി. ശ്രീധരൻ ആന്ധ്രയിലെ കാക്കിനാഡയിൽ എൻജിനിയറിങ്ങിനു ചേർന്നു.

"Seshan was a lean boy with determination. We were in the * I Group in ^ Palakkat Victoria.It was the two of us who were selected directly for engineering after passing *  Intermediate in 1949 from Victoria"

"Intermediate" (i.e., the stage between S.S.L.C. and degree) was known as "F.A." (i.e., First Arts) before that and is now known as + 2 -- P. Ramanathan.)

  ". E. Sridharan got on the rails of memory and reached Palakkat. Seshan did not join engineering. He went to Chennai for IAS coaching. Sridharan joined engineering at Kakinada in Andhra.

ആദ്യ ശമ്പളം എത്രയായിരുന്നു? 350 രൂപയായിരുന്നു ആദ്യശമ്പളം. പിരിയുമ്പോൾ അടിസ്ഥാന ശമ്പളം 8000 രൂപ. അ‌ലവൻസ് സഹിതം മൊത്തം 16,000 രൂപ കൈയിലെത്തും. അന്നതു വലിയ ശമ്പളമായിരുന്നു. പിരിയുമ്പോൾ കിട്ടിയ ശമ്പളത്തിന്റെ 12 ഇരട്ടിയോളമുണ്ട് ഇപ്പോൾ പെൻഷൻ  മാത്രം.

How much was the first salary? It was Rs.350/=. The basic pay was Rs.8000 at the time of retirement. Total salary including allowances was Rs.16,000/=  to hand *. It was a big salary then. Now pension alone amounts to 12 times the salary at the time of retirement.
